KOPENHAGEN FUR - MANUFACTURING PROGRAMME TRAINED 200 MORE
Shenzhen (abutting on Hong Kong) and its surrounding areas are known for high-quality fur production, while the famous Russian Market dominates Chinese fur export to Russia. Three experts from Kopenhagen Fur attended the seminars to share their expertise. Mr Per Knudsen, chief auctioneer, gave the nuts and bolts of the auction house through lively descriptions and videos. Mr. Thomas Andersen, Product Development Manager and Mr Peter Marthin from Kopenhagen Studio, presented the latest trends from international catwalks, as well as the advanced fur techniques developed by the Studio. In Beijing, due to the Russian Market’s trade orientation, a Chinese economist was invited to share insights on Sino-Russian trade relations and other hot topics in Chinese economy.
GREY SEAL MESS A RESULT OF SEAL PRODUCT MARKET ATTACKS, SAYS FUR INSTITUTE.
Ottawa, May 28, 2010 - A Department of Fisheries and Ocean’s plan to cull and incinerate up to 220,000 grey seals off Nova Scotia’s sable island is an example of an ecological “mess” created by the animal-rights movement against the sustainable-use of seal products, says the Fur Institute of Canada. The plan, which could cost Canadian taxpayers up to $35 million, involves either a large-scale kill and disposal of grey seals, or a targeted contraception program aimed at Canada’s grey seal population, which has grown to 300,000 strong and is now considered a danger to the recovery of threatened groundfish stocks.
BLACKGLAMA, BRAND EXTENSION
Astute business moves require a capable person to be at the helm. The move to extend the Blackglama brand could not be in more capable hands. Joe Morelli has been both the catalyst and main protagonist of Blackglama’s leap into the wider sector of luxury goods, which has entered the market under the name of “More that Mink”. He has a rare wealth of knowledge upon which to draw and valuable experience spanning many years in the sphere of products development, branding and marketing. Today, as Head Advisor and President of the business giant American Legend Cooperative, Mr. Morelli was a key figure behind the business development of two other legendary brands, DuPont and Nike, for which he worked for 26 years before undertaking duties in ALC. In 2000, as General Manager of “Nike’s Vision Timing Techlab”, he envisioned and realized the extension of the existing, exclusively athletic products of the company to new lines, such as sunglasses, watches and electronic products. Now it is the turn of Blackglama, to cause a revolution in the sector of fur garments, by transferring its brand value to more products. Joe Morelli explains how and why.
