| Light-coloured furs rule at Copenhagen Fashion Week |
Last week saw some beautiful, strong fur pieces from Saga Furs on the key runways at Copenhagen fashion week, with emphasis on light, luminous colours, such as fawn light fox and platinum fox.
But there was also a rather fabulous non-stop fur show going on off the runway, too. Everywhere, guests were rocking amazing furs, as women of all ages defied the subzero temperatures in their warm pelts – from super sharp shaved mink gilets to this season’s craze for longhaired glamorous silver and blue fox coats. “The Nordic countries have a very immediate and natural approach to fur, something which is of course rooted in their heritage,” commented Mark Townsend, head of marketing and communication at Saga Furs, and continued: “We see this in the way designers incorporate fur into their collections – it’s a very natural work process that results in sophisticated and wearable pieces.”
This fusion of sophistication and the wearable was very much present at the Yde presentation. Ole Yde has established himself as the go-to designer for modern ladylike glamour, and his furs are very much in the same vein: a luscious Saga Furs® platinum fox stole was Old Hollywood with a twist thanks to the lightness created by the Airgallon technique, while a sexy leather skirt had wonderfully soft, wispy inserts of Saga Furs® black dyed silver fox in the fish scale technique. Other standout pieces included a Saga Furs® dyed black blue fox jacket and a chic little leather bolero with dyed black Saga Furs® arctic marble frost fox. But the fur that perhaps drew the most oohs and aahs from the crowd was the bridal exit: a gorgeous Saga Furs® platinum fox jacket, worn over a little silvery princess mini dress with a rosette skirt.
By Malene Birger also opted for the fawn, natural colours, to complement the outdoorsy feel of her collection. The rustic offerings, centred on a Lady of the Manor sort of woman, opened with a luxurious Saga Furs® fawn light fox gilet. Another standout piece was a gorgeous Saga Furs® fawn light fox jacket with a seventies animalistic feel.
Putting the drama back into the fashion show, Noir had arranged for their models to dress each other in various gothic and vampy black leather and frill outfits in front of the guests. Here, a lustrous Saga Furs® dyed black arctic marble frost fox jacket stole the show, teamed with nothing but a black lace body.
