KOPENHAGEN FUR - MANUFACTURING PROGRAMME TRAINED 200 MORE

The Manufacturing Programme moved into Shenzhen City in southern China and the Russian Market in Beijing last week. Three seminars were attended by over 200 manufacturers.

Shenzhen (abutting on Hong Kong) and its surrounding areas are known for high-quality fur production, while the famous Russian Market dominates Chinese fur export to Russia.

Three experts from Kopenhagen Fur attended the seminars to share their expertise. Mr Per Knudsen, chief auctioneer, gave the nuts and bolts of the auction house through lively descriptions and videos. Mr. Thomas Andersen, Product Development Manager and Mr Peter Marthin from Kopenhagen Studio, presented the latest trends from international catwalks, as well as the advanced fur techniques developed by the Studio. In Beijing, due to the Russian Market’s trade orientation, a Chinese economist was invited to share insights on Sino-Russian trade relations and other hot topics in Chinese economy.

The seminars in Shenzhen were the first of its kind since Kopenhagen Fur signed agreement with Guangdong Fur and Leather Garment Committee (GFLGC). A total of 70 manufacturers came, including some driving 2 hours from nearby Guangzhou City.

- The education is necessary for the manufacturers who need to improve design and management. Besides that, we expect to work with Kopenhagen Fur in many other areas to push the fur industry to grow in a healthy and regulated way, said Wu Zhonghua, vice-chairman of GFLGC.

In Beijing, around 140 business owners attended the two-day seminars. Mr. Wang Bingqi had participated in Kopenhagen Fur’s seminar in Daying, Hebei province in April. He drove four hours to be among his Russian Market peers. - I was inspired so much by the seminars in my home town. All the driving is worthwhile in order to attend this one.

- The Manufacturing Programme has concluded the first round of trainings with success. It was an invaluable experience for both Kopenhagen Fur and our Chinese partners to have these close contacts, Per Knudsen said.

The second round of seminars in 2010 will take place this fall.
