Entitled Prosopon (Greek for ‘face’), Christina Ioannidou’s collection of masks reveals her unstoppable talent. Both colorful and dark, minimalist and ornate, the collection reflects the creator’s genuine fascination with the world’s tribes and civilizations. Christina Ioannidou is of Greek extraction but has lived in London since 2010, where she studied Fashion Jewelry at the London College of Fashion. Her work focuses on artefacts and jewelry techniques.
This particular collection is the result of many years of research. All pieces are made of leather and metal cut and formed by hand combined with real fox and mink fur by Saga Furs Design Studio, in Copenhagen. It has been photographed by Steven Klein, Inez & Vinoodh, Mert & Marcus, Karl Lagerfield and Panos Yiapanis and has been hosted in editorials by some of the most famous fashion magazines worldwide.
Christina Ioannidou does not hide behind her masks. She translates feelings into tangible materials, frankly revealing herself to her audience and tickling emotions. And that, as she says, “is the best gift for me.”
